Transition The title transition is based on how this song originated to how it was finished. On 4/7 BobH and I were jamming to a low volume click track. Consequently we varied the temp. Also there were gaps in our playing and the tone of Bob's guitar was very trebly. No matter what I did I could not get the timing perfect, even with Melodyne, or vary the guitar tone to our satisfaction, thus we decide to junk it. A couple weeks later I had the idea to convert Bob's guitar audio track to MIDI as you all know I work better in MIDI than audio. In MIDI I corrected that tempo, eliminated the gaps, and either rewrote or copy and pasted a couple of small parts of Bob's guitar track to what you hear now, hence the title Transition. I added the backing tracks and jammed along using my Squire P-Bass and my Xaviere 335 guitar. BiaB Style - Bushwick MIDI sw-16 Smooth Funk Tempo - 120 BPM I deleted the bass. Utility track - Keys of the 70's - Stage Mark 73 full Piano - Keys of the 70's - Stage Mark 73 full and Lounge Lizard - tine based - Dark 1 Guitar - Kontakt - Celesta Drums - various Kontakt Steven slate's SSD-5 drums Bob's guitar track - UVI Workstation - Jazz Guitar sterio.

Ha! Great job of salvaging a musical idea and performance. I'd NEVER be patient enough (or skilled enough) for that. Super song, Mario. Everything sounds great and the journey it took to get it done is completely transparent to the listener. You guys just ooze music (but not in a gross way). Enjoyed!

Yes the only reason I saved this song was because of Bob's rhythm track. I'm glad it came out transparent to the listener as that was my main goal. PS - I'm sure YOU could do it also if you wanted to learn how to do it.

Yeow, what another cool Sunday jam with you and Bob, and what a crafty collection of corrections. I listened a few times to try to detecty your MIDI work. Seamless. No visible stitches from the musical surgeon. Much enjoyed, Mario.

I certainly wouldn't have the patience to do that (I'm more of a throw everything away and start over kind of guy), but you did a really good job. Nice!

Brian, if you are going deep into BiaB then you have the patience to do it! Note I don't have the patience to go deep into BiaB! Thanx for listening.

Nice jam session Mario and Bob! Cool sounding production! I like how you just let it roll and whatever happens, happens! Take care, TB Thanx Torrey. I am a firm believer that first time recordings are the best. Sometimes you can correct a few bad oops and sometimes you can let a minor oop slide through. I was never a believer of making many tracks and cutting and pasting to make a good one. I am not knocking those that do that it is just not my style; I'll take an emotional track with a wart or two over a super polished technically correct track that lacks emotion. Note that some can cut and paste an emotional track but not me as I get bored if I have to play the same line over and over and over.

Hi, Mario. Smacky drums! If you hadn't said you MIDIfied the guitar, I'd never have guessed. Nice jam! Thanx David. In the past I have MIDIfied guitar tracks to add an instrument to the audio guitar track; instruments like a zither, music box, marimba, and vibes work well. This is the first time I have replaced a recorded audio track with MIDI, that is with the exception of converting RTs to MIDI, something I rarely have to do now.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
