You have to be in the zone for this one. Plus don't listen on too low a volume. From the YouTube blurb: Like "Aurora V1: Night Turns Into Gold", my last post, this instrumental was composed in April 2023, but not finally edited until June or later, and like the latter track I didn't upload it earlier as I was hoping for a different kind of video for it, an idea now abandoned. Though a lot simpler in construct than "Quan Yin", this instrumental is just my favourite to date as when I listen to it at the end of a 1 hour playlist I'm totally in the zone for the flow of it. At 7:30 in length it won't be everyone's nightcap and I expect that on one music forum I'll be told it takes too long to get started [!], but for me the relaxing flow of the rhythm section starts at the start and it slowly builds as piano joins in and then later long tenor sax and finally electric guitar solos complete it. Drums: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Ba ~ Brian Fullen Bass: ditto ~Tobin Frank Organ: ditto ~ Gene Rabbai Rhythm Guitar: ditto ~ Darin Favorite Piano: Solo Acoustic Piano Ballad ~ John Jarvis Tenor Sax Solo: Slow Country Pop w/ Tenor Solo ~ Mark Douthit Guitar Solo: Modern Groove Soloist, Brit Rock ~ Dave Clevland 192 bars; 4/4; G; tempo 105; time 7:30

Chay, love what you've done with the arrangement and your theme to make this an ear catching "long" piece. Don't think it took too long for the piano to kick things off at all. The guitar solo pyrotechnics work surprisingly well (to me) despite not being as laid back as the rest of the track. So...like this a lot!

HA. A nightcap is supposed to put us to sleep, but this one wakes me up with some fresh ideas and an impassioned desire to play. So I'm listiening in the morning. Inspriational morning coffee. So well-crafted, Chay. Everything sits so well in the mix, and you fashioned the solos so well. My eyes were closed as I drifted off, so I probably missed most of the video. Maybe I'll try that tonight to see if that puts me to sleep. From past experiences with your stuff, it's not likely. Wow, that was 7 and a half minutes. Breezed right through...

Chay,
Nice tracks. Smooth listening. Piano and sax are well done. The guitar has an interesting tone. Different. Cool. Good mix.

The guitar solo pyrotechnics work surprisingly well (to me) despite not being as laid back as the rest of the track. So...like this a lot! Thanks DC! What I love about this track is that it builds up step by step and the dynamics of the guitar solo "pyrotechnics" at the end just fit it perfectly, note by note and phrase by phrase. I love Dave Cleveland's unique style, but it's often really hard to use his work without repeating the same phrases in different instrumentals. In a conversation with a friend just recently I realised that when I'm seeking solos for any tracks, which is nearly always 20+ and sometimes over 40, I find that between 90 and 99% of them just don't work regardless of trying numerous regenerations, so with this solo I struck gold as it was the first generation to come up!

Re the video, this is on my YouTube blurb: When I posted the "Sophia Loves: V2" video in August 2023 I hadn't yet completed a Sophia (Greek goddess of wisdom) 3D model, so I only used one image of my Deya character, but I've now finally created a Sophia model and thus there are 4 new images used in this video, though only 4 so as not to distract from the music.

As I wrote above in reply to DC, I love Dave Cleveland's guitar solos as he has such a really unique style - I've never come across anything like it before. I suspect due to the length of the track I won't ge many listens, so I'm very grateful for your time and comment.

A quietly flowing melody, which does not become boring. Not even if the song lasts over 7 minutes. This is due to the different instruments that alternate. The sax is very nicely done and is well taken over by the lead guitar. Good job!

HI Chay,
I listened to the first four and a half minutes. I would have loved to listen to the end, but my time here is extremely limited due to my wife's very serious health issues. Trying to listen to as many folks as I can.
Loved the sax! This is a really nice, easy-to-listen track.
As soon as I can I'll listen to the full song.
Take care, and nice work!
Alan

Alan Thanks to listening to what you could, Al. I can empathise to a degree as back in the late 90s I was the sole full-time carer for my mother after she'd had 2 strokes, plus she had Parkinsons and ever worsening osteoarthritis. She went from getting upstairs to her bedroom with help, then having to use a chairlift, next me having to get her into a wheelchair to get her to the chairlift, then helping her again at the top, then finally we had to change her bedroom to a downstairs room. It finally reached the point where I, a male, couldn't look after on my own as she regularly fell at night when using a commode. An aunt would have to come around to clean her up. Then even when she had to go to a nursing home for her final year I was still her head, hands and feet in the world. I can't imagine how bad I'd feel if it was my beloved in need of constant care. May love rule for both of you. <3

Yes, despite the 7:30 length it's my favourite track to listen to at the end of a long playlist as time just flies by with the flow of it.

Rambling, shambling, walking - the bass does it all. Thanks for the response, Ray. I'm not sure what you mean with the 'ings, as for me the instruments are tight and flow, but yes, how underrated the bass guitar is as although it's often not noticed no song or instrumental - other than just acoustic - sounds right if the bass wasn't there. Many aeons of yonks ago when I was a drummer the bassist would also stand close to me as we sync'd with each other.

Cool driving bass line. The sax solo is my favorite. Thanks Ezekiel's Storm (I can't recall your name!). "Sophia Loves V2" was my first post on the forum - a simpler mix than this V3 for this chord structure - and after a solo piano intro, followed by B3 for the innitial ryhtm section, it's Mark Douthit's tenor sax throughtout. Later on bass comes in which picks it up, then finally drums to drive it to the end.

A song that builds up nicely, even if I think it's too long, especially the intro. I would have started just before the piano at 1:32, and at 6 minutes you'd still have a long song. But I mainly write pop songs in the 2-3 minute range, so who am I to complain?
However, it's a good song with a good selection of solo instruments, well arranged and nicely mixed, and enjoyable to listen to.

I think when it comes to the length of a track it really depends on when you're listening ~ the zone you're in, the place, time and vibe. I mostly listen to this at the end of a long playlist and I'm totally in the zone for it. I've commented before that I'v heard albums and singles I've just not felt anything for, then on another day I find I'm in the zone and what previously bored me I next think is excellent.
