I rendered midi styletracks in the BIAB VST in Cubase (i tried in Cubase 12 Pro and Cubase 13 Pro) but after rendering no (or just some) instruments become midi that I can drag in my DAW. (See screenshot: In this case only the guitar gives a miditrack.Does anyone has a solution for this? Thanks and best regard, Harald
Currently there are numerous reports of the BIAB-VST3 crushing in multipe DAWs. Folks are suggesting to use the VST2 version.
I tried your exact style in BIAB-VST3 - Reaper and I was able to generate the four midi tracks. Unfortunately, I also go two RTs which only God and Adar know where those came from. 32 bars 3x toodk several minutes to complete the rendering.
Sorry, not much more I can do for you. I kinda got my own set of issues here.
Hi Dan, thanks for your respons! I have the audiopfile version 2021 and only the VSt3 version is on that disk. (To be honest I don't know the difference between VST2 en VST3) Can you tell me where I can find the VST2 version so I can try that? (Did you also try it with the VST2 plugin and what was the result than?)
When you install the BIAB VST you have many options for drivers to install. Generally I only use the VST3 option which historically has worked fine with Reaper.
Now your Cubase will be different, but I suspect will permit you to select exactly which VST driver you use if you have multiple drivers installed. So first be sure to install the VST2 option, then select this in Cubase.
If you need more info we may need to have a Cubase guy step in.
All the plugins are located in the same place, X:\bb\BBPlugins\Files where X = your Band-in-a-Box drive letter. The VST2 plugin is labeled "Band-in-a-Box DAW VST Plugin.dll"
When I try that one it asks with what program/app I want to open it. Cubase is not in the list.
I tried reinstalling BIAB and chose for the recommended 64 version AND the VST2 version but than I get an errormessage..... Maybe the problem lies in Cubase?
I have the audiophileversion 2021. I tried the Build 1104 but that seems to be for later versions. For me the is the latest update Build845 Maybe you can ask the Cubase guy for me? (Thank you so much!)
OK, it appears you have a relatively old version of BIAB (2021) and the BIAB-VST (V3.9.12). Sorry, I missed that. My initial response assumed you were fight current problems. You appear to be fighting old problems. When did it stop working?
Have you tried to install: Band-in-a-Box® Version 2021 Update - Build 845 (Oct 29 2021) Available in the support area?
To be honest.. I didn't use BIAB for 2 years anymore until I got the offer for the 2024 version. In 2021 everything worked as I remember well. The only thing that's changed is my new Cubase update. Latest version Cubase 13 Pro. But I also checked the plugin in the older versions Cubase 11 Pro and Cubase 12 Pro but with the same result.... So strange that only a few tracks give midi and the rest don't.... I added another screenshot with the Cubase 11 Pro version
When BIAB updates each year they no longer support the prior versions. Say what? Ya, I know, that sounds rough but that is simply the way it is. So be sure your BIAB 2021 Build is at least 845 which was the last version supported.
You could go for the 2024 update and if you can't get this working in 30 days (which by the way is currently hit or miss), then you could get your money back.
I found this note on the Cubase Pro webpage +++ HERE +++

This software version does not support 32-bit plug-ins. VST 2 plug-ins only run in Rosetta 2 mode on Apple silicon Mac. Cubase does not support VST 2 when running natively on Apple silicon Macs.
Does this explain why the VST2 version does not work for you?
I get the idea but that is not so easy when you live in Europe. It takes weeks before you get it and getting the money back when it also doesn't work is not easy too. Not very clientfriendly to stop the support so soon for relatively older versions. If you might speak to your Cubase-friend again maybe you wanna ask him if he knows a solution? Happy holidays too!:)

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
