The subject says it all..... FYI, I'm using BinaB 2023 and have loaded the updates. Using Logic Pro 10.2.2 and is as current as I get it.
I have reloaded and refreshed all the sound libraries in Logic, and reloaded Band in a box 2023. Please note that this was fine with the 2021 Band version.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this?

Ask away.........Thanks

I'm assuming you are talking about the AU BiaB plugin. There was a bug specifically with one recent version of the DAW plugin that caused a validation error when loading Logic - this was fixed in 5.5.2 which was included with build 705 of the main program. Can you double-check that you have that one, and if you do can you describe in more detail what happens when you try to load it?

The current version of Logic is 10.7.8, maybe you need to update it.

Thanks for your response. I've re installed updates 705 and 704, restart and, no change.

As Logic starts up, and alert advises that;

"While verifying Audio Unit compatibility, Logic Pro X encountered 1 Audio Unit plug-in(s) which did not pass the Apple AU validation. These plug-ins have been excluded from further usage in Logic Pro X to prevent possible problems or crashes. You can start the Plug-In Manager now to review the validation results or continue the startup process"

I have reinstalled the Logic's sound library. As before, the only exception in the listing is the Band in a Box that can't be verified.

FYI, in Logix, I have reviewed the System and Logic preferences for in/out preference and everthings seems ok.... Focustite in and out.
The same holds true for BB.

Tryuk, thank for the suggestion however, there must be a fix for this as the plugin did work at one time, so I don't think it's my system.

I'm an old dog and I don't like new tricks. I'm not ready to make the investment in new gear despite the fact that some of the advantages in a newer Logic program which really really interesting, but my currect setup does everything that I need it do do, well almost.

Cheers

On your Mac hard drive, go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components. Click on "Band-in-a-Box DAW AU Plugin.component", and press Commnand+I (get info). Can you confirm that it does say build 5.5.2 there?

Hmmm, ok. In the plugin manager, "Logic Pro > Settings > Plug-In Manager" menu, highlight the BiaB plugin and click "Reset & Rescan..

What OS do you have?

Thanks for the info. Are you able to manually enable the plugin? I.E. open the Plugin Manager in Logic and select Show all, then click the "Use" checkbox. Does it work?

Create a new admin account on your Mac, for testing. Then log into the new account and run Logic. Same thing happen?

No, it should be easy...

1. Apple menu | System Preferences | Users & Groups.
2. Click the lock icon to allow changes and enter your password.
3. click the Plus symbol and it will allow you to create an account.

Now you can Log Out (Apple menu) of your current account, and log in to the account you created.

If you run Logic now it will either work or not work (i.e. same error). That is what we want to know. You don't need to keep using this account, it is just a test and will not change anything (you can log back into your normal account)

That was easy.... No changes in the result. Can't open file and the validation notification still comes up.
Is it ok to remove the account.

Note. When I was starting Logic it had to go through loading the plugins. It stopped and requested that I register Synthmaster One. I already had Synthmaster as a plugin in Logic that I got from my Fishman Midi Guitar controller. I have not used S1 in the Band in a Box program. could there be a connection?

No, not connected, and you can probably remove the account if you want. Thanks for doing that test. I think we'll have to hunt down a log file on your system with the validation results in it. I will have to get back to you about this on Monday.

I have MacBook Pro 2015 i7, internal 1tb hard, 16gb memory. Using Big Sur and the latest version of Logic Pro. I updated biab version (705). But my daw’s biab show the words playing but you don’t hear or see the progress moving from one chord to another. I am also using a 10tb external hard drive. I have always used a pc until my brother convince me to buy a Mac. Never have I had problems with pc apps. The mac’s Biab version is the only app I know has so many problems. In addition, when I run the independent biab, it doesn’t play the correct chords at the bridge. Is anyone else having these problems? Jerry says the developing team is looking into this matter. I been waiting for two weeks and still no solution.
Any suggest?

Andrew, thanks for your help. I've been probing files and I may onto something concerning a "Standalone" file file that I found in a directory. Let you know next week.

Hi Hogman,

Please do this:

1. Open a Terminal window. One way to do this is to press Command+Spacebar (this brings up spotlight), and type "Terminal", then press enter.

2. In the Terminal window, first type (or copy and paste) the following command and press Enter.

auval -a

This will list all of the AU plugins installed on your system. Verify that you see in the list somewhere: "PG Music Inc.: Band-in-a-Box DAW AU Plugin
Does it output any error messages?

3. Next, type the following command and press Enter.

auval -v aumu Oaw8 Manu

Note that is a capital O, not a zero, in Oaw8

This will test the Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin specifically. Copy everything it says (maybe about 50 lines or so), and paste into your reply. You can copy text in the Terminal just like you would expect, by dragging to highlight, and press Command+C to copy.

I'm assuming it will list some sort of error message, which we would like to see.
===============================

There is one other thing to try as well in the meantime, although I don't think this will make a difference since you experience the same problem in a different user account as we found out in our test earlier. But for what it's worth:

- Go to ~/Library/Caches, and delete the folder "AudioUnitCache". As a shortcut to get to this folder, you can press Command+Shift+L. This hotkey gets you into the user "Library" folder, which you don't normally see because it is a hidden folder. From there, you can open the Caches folder and you should find that AudioUnitCache subfolder in there.

- After you do that, back in the Terminal window, run this command (or alternatively reboot the Mac):

killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar

- Then, run the auval scan again and see if there's any difference.

Thanks. I'd actually like to confirm that a previous build passed on your system. Could you try installing this earlier build and running that same auval command? Does it pass??
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2023_mac_update_build704_dawplugin_5.4.7.pkg

Note: You can always reinstall the current build:
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2023_mac_update_build705.pkg

Thanks for sticking with this.

Edit - One more thing. Can you run the 'Standalone' version of the plugin and see if anything strange happens? You can find this in your Band-in-a-Box folder here: BBPlugin | Files | Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Standalone.app

Once you open that, check File | Preferences | Folder Locations. What is the Band-in-a-Box path listed there?

This can't be the entire report. Is there more? It should be something like 50-75 lines in total. Unless it fails at some point, in which case it would show some kind of error message.

Hi Pierre,

So it doesn't seem like you are having the same problem as Hogman, since validation succeeds for you. I'll move your post into it's own thread, so reply there with more details about what specifically the problem is...

In this thread we will continue to work on Hogman's problem.

So here we go,

1. I've reinstalled the earlier builds on the links you sent me, 704 and 705. Please note that I have done this before.
2. I ran the ouval command and I don't see anything that changed. I have copied the information and can pass it along to you. For now I have it saved.
3. I re-ran the aumu file and below are the results. Last login: Thu Jun 8 13:20:41 on ttys000
Bruces-iMac:~ bruce$ auval -v aumu Oaw8 Manu

I also ran the Standalone program and I don't see anything unusual for now. Tracks and styles are loading up fine. However I could not check the File/Preferences/Folder Locations from the open window.

As mentioned before one thing that we have not tried is going into the Library/Chaches. You didn't think it would make a difference so I thought I would defer.

I'm not out for the count yet.

You might have misunderstood.

After installing this...
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2023_mac_update_build704_dawplugin_5.4.7.pkg

...you should have 5.4.7 installed, but the auval report shows you have 5.5.2 installed. I want to see that report when you have 5.4.7 installed.

Andrew, ss I noted before, the one thing that I have not tried is going into the Library/Chaches that you mentioned . You didn't think it would make a difference so I thought I would defer but I can run it down if you were waiting for me to do so.

I also thought I would mention is that I've always ordered the hard drive to install the programs and I have 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. The plugin, as far as I can remember worked with the 2022 version that I bought in the spring. I'm wondering if there is a file that was copied on the 2022 and not the 2023 disk drives? I know that the disk drives are mass copied, so maybe something there. I could check for you if you instructed me on what to look for and how to do it.

thanks
bn

Sure, go ahead and do that. It is definitely worth a try.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly now, there has been no build 5 (Version 2023) AU plugin that works on your system? The reason I'm asking is because there was an AU validation problem that was specific to one of the 2023 release builds. I had been assuming that your problem was related to that but I think I misunderstood.

So, you're saying this build does NOT work, is that correct?
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2023_mac_update_build704_dawplugin_5.4.7.pkg

To be clear, download and install this package, then run the validation tool as described earlier and see if it completes successfully.

Moving on then, the plugin was updated last summer to support Apple's silicon chips, and at this point our earliest supported OS (for the plugin) was bumped from 10.7 to 10.9 (Mavericks). Since you have Sierra (10.12) that should not be a problem, but perhaps this is when it stopped working on your system for one reason or another, perhaps a missing dependency. You could do the same test as above, with two "2022" builds. To do this, follow these simple steps (You should read through all steps before proceeding, so you understand what you are doing.)

1. Open your Band-in-a-Box folder, and find the main Band-in-a-Box app (Band-in-a-Box.app). Duplicate this (click on it and command+D) and name the duplicate "Band-in-a-Box 2023.app".

2. Install Version 2022 with plugin build 4.6.15:
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2022_mac_update_build605.pkg

3. Run the auval test and take note of the results. Ideally, copy into a text file to save.
auval -v aumu Oaw8 Manu

4. Install Version 2022 with plugin build 4.8.7. This is the first build that is a universal binary that natively supports both Intel and Silicon Macs.
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2022_mac_update_build609.pkg

5. Run the auval test again as above. If the test succeeds with build 4.6.15 but fails with 4.8.7, then we know this is when it stopped working on your computer.

6. To get back to Band-in-a-Box 2023, do the following. The "Band-in-a-Box.app" will be 2022 at this point - delete this. Rename the "Band-in-a-Box 2023.app" back to Band-in-a-Box.app. Now you can install the Build 705 update patch:
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/mpatch/bb2023_mac_update_build705.pkg

ok so I've downloaded the 5.4.7 patch and it shows that it was installed. So now for me, after this, its really getting into the weeds. I don't have a clue what I am or will be doing as far as trying to correct this. I'm not a savy computer wia At 71 years old this is overwhelming me.

Ok - you should reinstall the latest patch and use the standalone DAW plugin version. Just drag tracks from there into Logic. This will be almost the same as using the AU plugin from within Logic. You can find the standalone version here:

/Applications/Band-in-a-Box/BBPlugin/Files/Band-in-a-Box Standalone DAW Plugin.app.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
