RealTracks Artist Bio: Yun Song

Playing the beautiful erhu which is a classical Chinese violin with two strings, Yun Song is keeping the love of erhus alive with her deeply resonate and emotional playing of her instrument. She has won many awards of the years, including first prize from the Traditional Music Grand Prix which was organized by the Ministry of Culture in China.

Her career began in China where she studied as an erhu soloist under the masters of her craft including Mingyuan Liu at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the cellist Yi Wang, Boyong Xiao and Hui-fen Min, as well as professor Yue Zhang. Yun Song has also performed internationally at festivals in Finland, Taiwan, Macao, Japan, and Hong Kong. Yun Song went on to be the director of the Chinese Erhu Artists Association, and eventually migrated to Canada and took up residence in Vancouver, British Columbia, to help others hone their skills through the BC Youth Chinese Orchestra.
