About the updates - read before downloading

You can use these patches regardless of which Band-in-a-Box package and version you have, as long as you have at least version 2009. However, in general only those patches with the same or newer version year than your version would apply to you. Updates from the previous years are already included in your package.

You should also install the latest Band-in-a-Box update for your version.

Audiophile editon users can install the regular patches, or you may wish to download the separate (larger) update patch which will update the uncompressed audio files if needed.

Make sure to select the correct volume (Change Install Location) if you do not have Band-in-a-Box installed on your Mac Hard drive.

RealTracks Update - July 19 2017 (200 MB)

This patch includes RealTracks and MIDI SuperTracks updates we have made since the release of Band-in-a-Box 2017. The files updated are largely those that were released with Band-in-a-Box 2017, although there are updates to some earlier ones as well.

A number of wave files are updated, so people with the "Audiophile" hard drive version can instead download the audiophile patch. (800 MB).

RealTracks Update - April 2017 (300 MB)

This patch includes RealTracks updates completed during 2016 and 2017, prior to the release of Band-in-a-Box 2017. If you purchased the Band-in-a-Box 2017 Everything/Ultra/audiophile, you don't need this patch as the fixes are included. A summary of the fixes and improvements is listed below.

Some audio files are updated in this patch, so users with the audiophile HD version can instead download this larger patch (2400 MB)

• Fixed: Some incorrect Shots assignments.
• Fixed: Timing issues with "Banjo, Tenor, Rhythm DixielandFastA-B Sw 165" have been fixed, meaning the playing should fit much better with the other Dixieland RealTracks.
• Improved: The RealDrum Styles ShakerCelticEv16 and ShakerEven8ths have had the groove improved so the rhythm sounds more natural. The endings have also been improved.
• Fixed: The variations for BossaTerryClarke have been fixed to correctly describe the substyles being used.

• Updated: Entire Library of regular and DI Shots and Holds has been tested, and there have been many fixes. This includes adding new Shots and Holds for instruments that previously didn't have them, reassigning instruments to more appropriate Shots and Holds, and fixing some issues with incorrect chords.
• Fixed: Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm JazzFreddie Sw 110 was not playing endings properly when a simple option was selected.
• Fixed: Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm JazzFreddie Sw 110 had a simple arrangement enabled but none was available.
• Fixed: Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Hank Sw 120 was sometimes playing incorrect chords.

RealTracks Compatibility Patch (2015) (2 MB)

OS 10.4 (tiger) users: download this patch instead.

This patch is intended for customers who purchased RealTracks sets that were released after their Band-in-a-Box / RealBand version was released, and are having trouble getting the new RealTracks to be recognized by the program. It contains the latest RealTracks support files as of April 1, 2014.

If you haven't purchased RealTracks individually, and/or have the latest version of Band-in-a-Box, you do not need this patch.

Any existing files in your Band-in-a-Box Data folder that are replaced by this patch will be backed up to the following subfolder:
Data/backup/realtracks_support_patch_{date}

To check if your RealTracks are recognized after installing this patch, open the RealTracks Picker, sort by RT Set #, and look for the set(s) you installed.

RealTracks Shots and Holds Update Patch (100 MB)

This July 27 2010 patch adds shots and holds to some of the older RealTracks in sets 1-82 that were previously missing them. It adds Organ, Banjo, Mandolin, Resonator Guitar, and Resophonic Guitar shots and holds.

This is mainly intended for customers who purchased Band-in-a-Box prior to the release of 2010.5 (June 2010) and did not purchase the 2010.5 Summer PlusPAK (and therefore don't have the newest holds files). If you have the folder Holds_136 in your \RealTracks\LibraryM\Holds folder, you likely don't need to install this patch.

Since the patch updates some audio files, Band-in-a-Box "Audiophile" edition users may wish to download this larger patch (800 MB).

This patch will update RealTracks Sets 1-82 to the latest versions as of July 08 2010. It includes all RealTracks updates since the release of Band-in-a-Box 2009.

If you have the Band-in-a-Box "Audiophile" edition, you can optionally download this (much larger) Audiophile specific patch (5GB download).

You should also download the latest Band-in-a-Box update.

Summary of Changes for July 08 2010

• A large percentage of RealTracks have been updated in this patch release. Improved 4 bar endings have now been added to almost all styles, many chords have been added, and all known issues have been addressed. Detailed list of features added to individual RealTracks styles..

RealTracks Sets 1-66 Update (230 MB)

This patch will update RealTracks Sets 1-66 to the latest versions as of September 15 2009. It includes all RealTracks updates since the release of Band-in-a-Box 2009.

You should also download the latest Band-in-a-Box update.

Summary of Changes for September 15 2009

• Updated: Some Jazz Quartet styles (.STY files) from RT sets 14-19 were missing an instrument.
• Improved: Many demo songs from RT40-66 (.mgu and .sgu) have improvements, including more consistent volumes.

These RealTracks instruments from Sets 40-66 have been fixed or improved. Updates include:

• Improved: Guitar notation (realcharts) is cleaner.
• Fixed: Some styles played a wrong chord.
• Fixed: Some styles caused an 'out of memory' error.
• Fixed: Occasional silent chords.
• Fixed: Nylon-electric guitar has much better volume levels.

These RealTracks instruments from Sets 1-39 have been fixed or improved. Updates include:

• Improved: Smoother playing on chords that aren't common for the style.
• Fixed: Ending problems on some instruments.
• Fixed: Some out of memory errors fixed.
• Improved: Cleaner RealChart notation for the guitars.
• Fixed: Occasional wrong chords being played.
